How did Skiddo come about?

I think I'm pretty good at coming up with things to do with the kids, but sometimes creativity just isn't enough. Especially after a bad night's sleep or when the day's plans suddenly have to change.

At the same time, I've noticed that kids' events are scattered across so many different places that it's easy to miss some real gems. And when we head out, it's easy to end up at the same familiar playground again, even though there are plenty of other places nearby that could be a fun change for both kids and parents.

That's where the idea for Skiddo came from: ideas for those moments when your own imagination runs dry, events gathered in one place, and new kid-friendly places to discover nearby.

Where does Skiddo's information come from?

Skiddo gathers information from several public and open data sources and organises it into a form that's easier for families to search.

Details about events and places can change, so please also check up-to-date information from the original source.

Event data comes from the open APIs of the cities in the Helsinki region, place data from Palvelukartta and the LIPAS sports facility register, weather forecasts from Open-Meteo, and maps from OpenStreetMap.
